The pressing question today is this: how can the relentless cycle of conflict and war in the world be broken? Strangely enough, the solution is not found in the pursuit of “truth”—despite what many Christians might assume. History itself bears witness that “truth” has often been the spark that ignited division and war. The answer lies elsewhere. And Jesus insists it hangs, like a garment, suspended on a coathanger.

BISHOP BUDDE:  the commission, the castle and the coat hanger

The statements by Bishop Budde as she addressed the commander-in-chief of the biggest Christian nation in the world opened a barn door for love to shine in, but sadly we started cursing the darkness (and one another) instead of simply lighting a candle. If there is one commission we need to read over and over again, it is this one in John 13.

GAZA – Creating space for the God of love

Here is a sobering thought:  love cannot coexist or be contained in the same heart that is filled with fear, suspicion and hatred.  We cannot have Christ and not have unconditional love.  It is as simple as that.  If you hate Hamas, the space for a God of love is occupied.

WHAT IS TRUTH?

When is truth, truth and when is truth simply an interpretation?  Is there an absolute truth or is truth always subject to the ‘owner’?  Is all truth equal?  Is it possible that the truth for one can be a lie for another?  How do we find truth in an age of deceit and a manipulative media?
