JESUS ON THE PLANE: a Christian response to the 153 Palestinian refugees

On November 13, 2025, a chartered Global Airways flight landed at Johannesburg’s O.R. Tambo International Airport, carrying 153 Palestinians from Gaza. The church, meanwhile, waits at the gate. Will we recognize Jesus disembarking? Not in stained glass, but in stained garments. Not in hymns alone, but in human faces. For He said: “I was a stranger, and you welcomed me.” And now He arrives—not cloaked in glory, but clothed in exile.

SOUTH AFRICAN REFUGEES: the semantics of displacement

The question has never been whether the 49 South Africans have been traumatised or whether they feel victimized.  Crime is a reality in South Africa that no one, regardless of race, language, or profession, can escape.  However, the question of whether white Afrikaners qualify as refugees is highly debated. The debate continues, with strong opinions on both sides. Racial discrimination in South Africa—both past and present—is an inherently emotional issue, and achieving a balanced understanding requires a measured approach grounded in definitions, factual analysis, and concrete examples.
