WINDOW OF HOPE: Making a difference in Beirut
UPDATE
Thank you so much to all who supported Project Window of Hope.
We are so grateful to report that we were able to raise and send R197,473.00 (US$11,434.00) to the Church in Beirut. The money was immediately put to use and windows were bought, frames were made and other necessities were purchased. Words cannot express the gratitude of those who were the recipients of your blessings in Lebanon.
Thank you so much on behalf of thousands in Lebanon. Here are some pictures of how your gifts are bearing fruit in Beruit

This video is from the church we partner with in Beirut. Not only have they turned the church into a workshop – producing window frames, fitting glass, making furniture, and providing in the desperate needs of those who have lost everything – but they took the church into the streets – providing hope, bringing life, and showing a tangible expression of the compassion of Christ.
Please will you extend a hand of support
Here is the challenge
Sponsor R10.00 or US$1.00 for every window you have in your home. Watch this video, count the windows in your home that provide protection and security, then contribute R10.00 for every window you have been blessed with. This is a glorious opportunity to COUNT YOUR BLESSINGS and share your gratitude with someone who has lost everything

PROJECT UPDATE
After negotiations with a number of suppliers in Egypt and new developments in Beirut we have decided that it would be financially be more viable to purchase the glass in Lebanon and therefore be able to sponsor more glass and provide more windows for more people. A number of countries, including nations like China and Egypt, have sent containers with glass to Lebanon and is now available to purchase. This means that the glass can be custom cut and the import and shipment costs originally budgeted for the project can be used to purchase glass as well. Costs for glass is approximately as follows.
- Clear glass of 6mm is R75.00 per meter
- Tinted glass of 6mm is R140.00 per meter
PROJECT WINDOW OF HOPE will therefore send the money to our partner church in Beirut to provide in the desperate needs of those who have lost everything in the explosion of 4 August
The devastating explosion in Beirut has displaced more than 300,000 people within a matter of seconds. Windows were shattered as far as 25 km from the place of the explosion, affecting millions of people. This created an immediate shortage of glass and an urgent need for broken windows to be replaced to protect families from an approaching winter.
A partnering Church in Beirut has converted the second storey of their church building into a workshop where members and professionals are working day and night to provide new window frames, fitted with glass, to people in Beirut.
PROJECT WINDOW OF HOPE aims to provide the glass and assist the church in Beirut to be vessels of hope in their community
Would you be willing to provide a WINDOW OF HOPE?

PROJECT WINDOW OF HOPE.
On Tuesday 4 August 2020 two explosions ripped through Beirut bringing life in Lebanon to a standstill. The explosion occurred after 2,750 tons of ammonium nitrate caught fire. The pressure wave occurred at a speed of 312 meters per second and caused destruction, horror, confusion, shattered glass, torn-apart flat surfaces, and disorientation.
It was heard and felt as far away as Cyprus – more than 125 miles (200km) away
THE NUMBERS.
Are devastating
- 170 dead with many still missing
- 6,000 people injured
- Collective losses of up to $US 15 billion
- The blast registered as a magnitude 3.3 earthquake.
- It was the equivalent of 1,000 to 1,500 tonnes of TNT – about a 10th of the intensity of the nuclear bomb dropped on Hiroshima in 1945.
THE STORIES
Are heartbreaking
“I was going to walk down the aisle with my wife in a white dress on Saturday, now I will walk to the grave with my fiancé in a white coffin,” said the young man after his fiancé – a firefighter – died in the explosion
“He was a happy boy, very sociable. Now, he doesn’t talk to anyone.” Says the mother of 3-year-old Abed Itani
As many as 100,000 children were displaced from their homes
“People won’t be able to rebuild their homes, businesses, livelihoods. There are reports of hospitals turning away patients because they don’t have the capacity,” said Aya Majzoub, Lebanon researcher with Human Rights Watch.
THE NEEDS
Are overwhelming
- 300,000 people displaced in seconds
- Windows were reported blown out up to 25 kilometers
- Millions are left without protection
- Lebanon’s currency collapsed by 80 percent of its value since last October, spiraling inflation and unemployment running about 55 percent.
- Nearly half of Lebanon’s population now lives below the poverty line and 35 percent are out of work, according to official statistics.
